THE PRESIDENTS SELECTION SHIRAZ REPRESENTS THE BEST OF MULTI-REGIONAL BLENDING FROM PREMIUM VINEYARDS ACROSS SOUTH AUSTRALIA. INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS ARE KEPT SEPARATE THROUGHOUT THE WINEMAKING PROCESS, ALLOWING THE WINEMAKER TO CHOOSE SPECIFIC CHARACTERS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE FINAL BLEND.

Vineyard parcels were crushed, destemmed and kept separate in a mixture of small batch open and closed fermenters. A mix of pumping over and plunging was used to maximise extraction while retaining concentration and depth of fruit. The individual parcels were gently pressed and transferred to a mix of new and one year old French and American oak for 18 months before final blending and bottling.

American (34%) oak barrels for 18 months - 20% new oak with the remainder in seasoned oak barrels.

NOSE

dark chocolate / moccha notes, with dusty, cedary oak.

PALATE

macerated plums and cocoa are evident with a touch of spice and pepper. The oak is well integrated and as a whole, it's seamless with soft, linger tannins. A classic display of the Wolf Blass hallmarks - power and elegance.
