Taittinger Brut Millésimé is a blend of grapes exclusively from the first pressing. It consists of 50% Chardonnay from the “Grands Crus” of the Côte des Blancs and 50% Pinot Noir from the “Grands Crus” of the Montagne de Reims and the start of the Vallée de la Marne.
Winemaking
Taittinger produces a vintage champagne only when the harvest has been of exceptional quality. The precious wine is then marketed only after several years of cellar ageing, allowing the aromas to mature slowly and the length and complexity of the wine to develop. The first tasting suggest astonishing wines: the Chardonnays, which had given the lowest yields, are original. The nose is concentrated, aromatic, very fruity, with frequent notes of ripe pear. On the palate they are rich, round, very smooth with syrupy fruit flavours. The Pinots Noirs have a very intense, ripe nose, with dominant aromas of dried fruit. On the palate they are powerful, round, ample with a fruity smoothness reminiscent of figs.
Winemaker’s Comments
The colour is a lovely golden yellow. A fine effervescence forms a generous necklace of mousse. The very fine nose is firstly flinty, then a combination of aromas reminiscent of bread and fresh white fruit reveals itself. On the palate, the attack is intense and pure, marked by fruity flavours of plum and greengage, lively then quickly becoming refined. The mid-palate is generous, ample, with an almost creamy structure. The aftertaste is very balanced, long and mature
