ANNIE’S LANE SHIRAZ
ABV 14.5%
Annie Wayman was a legend in the Clare Valley. She could always be relied upon to bring along sandwiches and a warm drink to harvesters and pruners at the turn of the century. One evening Annie’s horse and cart became bogged in a lane adjacent to one of the valley’s best vineyards. Thus, Annie’s Lane was named.
Annie’s Lane Shiraz is dark cherry red in colour. Aromas of spice, pepper and dark berry fruit characterise the lifted nose. The palate has subtle, integrated oak and silky tannins, creating a luscious mouthfeel to support the spicy cherry and blackberry fruit characters.
Viticulture
Winemaking
The grapes were crushed and de-stemmed, and individual parcels were fermented separately in a range of fermenter styles to build textural complexity. After fermentation, the wines were pressed off the skins and then selected parcels were racked into oak for maturation. A small portion of the wine matured in tank to bring lifted fruit to the final blend. Prior to blending, each parcel was reassessed to confirm its suitability and quality for Annie's Lane Shiraz.
Cellaring
Enjoy now or cellar for 5 years.
